Pupils from High Hazels Academy had tea with the Lord Mayor of Sheffield Cllr Denise Fox.
The youngsters were invited to the Town Hall after meeting the Lord Mayor at last November’s successful lantern parade, which started at the Darnall-based school.
Last week, the pupils, all from the academy’s Year 6 and all with 100% attendance, were on their best behaviour as they were given a guided tour of the Town Hall and met with the Lord Mayor. Also accompanying the children were school governors Mothiur Rahman and Rengalakshmi Alagarsamy, as well as school staff member Mrs Kath Burns.
The visit was such a success that High Hazels Academy has been invited to send other children, as a reward for 100% attendance.
High Hazels’ Headteacher Mrs Maqsood-Shah said:
“We are very grateful to Sheffield City Council and the Lord Mayor for taking the time to help organise the visit and meet with the children. It was certainly a day to remember and one they will be talking about for a long time to come.”
