Today marks the start of a new chapter for students and staff at Bacon’s College as the school joins United Learning. The Southwark school joins the group of academies and independent schools which include Guildford High School, Lambeth Academy and Paddington Academy.
As part of United Learning, Bacon’s College students will be able to enjoy exciting activities designed to enhance their overall school experience and staff will benefit from the Group’s wide range of high-quality professional development opportunities. The College will maintain its strong links to the Church of England.
Fiona Morris, Acting Principal at Bacon’s College, said:
“Today marks an important milestone for Bacon’s College. Whilst staff have been working tirelessly to drive standards at the College, joining United Learning provides a renewed sense of focus and drive. With United Learning’s support we can accelerate the progress underway at the College and provide our children with the education they deserve.
“As a part of United Learning, we will now be able to offer our students a wider range of opportunities than we can as a stand-alone school. We can’t wait to access these opportunities and meet all the other schools in the Group.”
United Learning has been working alongside the College since September providing expert school improvement support and guidance.
Jon Coles, Chief Executive of United Learning, said:
“We are very pleased that Bacon’s College has joined us and we look forward to working with students, staff and parents over the coming years. The College has an enviable reputation for excellent pastoral care and for developing the whole child. This is something we are very keen to preserve and build on as we support the College become the beacon of excellence we know it has the potential to be.”
