Sheffield Park Academy student fundraiser Storm Burgess has smashed her target of raising £10,000 for animal charities, after collecting over £1,000 thanks to a dress down day at the school.
Storm’s fundraising efforts have already earned her the International Fund for Animal Welfare’s ‘Young Fundraiser of the Year Award,’ presented to her at the House of Lords in October, and earlier this month the Sheffield Cat Shelter and Morrisons threw a surprise party to thank her for her efforts.
This week, the 11 year-old added to her total, thanks to the dress down day held by her school which raised £1,126, with half the money going towards Storm’s beloved animal charities and the other half donated to the Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, which Sheffield Park Academy also supports.
Calling in to present Storm with a cheque for the £563 today (15th December) was none other than Father Christmas himself.
Executive Principal Craig Dillon said:
“We’re delighted to have been able to support Storm in her fundraising, as well as supporting Weston Park, who do such an incredible job. A big thank you to everyone who took part and donated.”
