A Level Results

Another landmark year for The Richard Rose Academies Sixth Form

First Oxford Success for Richard Rose Student

Students at the Richard Rose Academies are celebrating today after receiving their A Level results. Nearly three quarters (72%) of A Level entries achieved A*-C grades.

These results mean that 75% of students going into Higher Education have secured their first choice university place including Pablo Espinoza who achieved an A* in Further Maths and will be studying Physics at Merton College, Oxford University. Pablo sat his A Levels in 2014 but was so determined to go to Oxford University that he spent an extra a year in the Sixth Form to gain the A* in Further Maths that he needed to secure his place there. He becomes the academies’ first student to secure a place at Oxford University.

Other notable successes include:

Kiera Mills who secured three Bs in Art & Design, English Literature and History and will be studying History at the University of Edinburgh;

Lauren Reibbitt who achieved an A* in Photography and an A in Art and Design and will be studying Graphic Arts and Design at Leeds Beckett;

Susan Ingledow who will be studying Primary Education with QTS at the University of Cumbria after achieving an A in Psychology, BB in Double Health and Social Care and a C in English Literature.

Stephen Gilby, Associate Principal, said:

‘We are absolutely delighted to see so many success stories at the Richard Rose 6th Form and would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the students and staff who have all worked so hard to make this possible. We also want to wish all of our students heading off to university and employment the very best for the future.’

Derek Davies, Executive Principal, said:

‘I’d like to congratulate all our Sixth Formers on their achievements today and for their hard work and commitment over the past two years. These results demonstrate the genuine progress that we are making across the schools. There are some excellent individual performances here that will be rewarded by places at very good universities.

‘It is particularly pleasing that today we are celebrating Pablo’s success in getting into Oxford University. Pablo was so determined to go to Oxford that he spent an extra year with us to gain the grades he needed. I am thrilled that all his hard work has paid off and I wish him all the best for the future. His determination and drive will inspire our younger students to work hard and set ambitious targets for themselves.’
