Overall pass rate 94%.
28 subjects were studied at HCS with a Sixth Form that had grown by 20% this year. This year 7% of the results were A*, 24% A*/A, 52% A*-B, and an excellent 72% A*-C. The overall pass rate was a distinguished 94%.
Head Boy Robert Barrett was a true high-flier with 3A* at A2 and an A at AS, and the following students scored over 900 UCAS points each, (equivalent to at least 3A* grades at A2), Sam Grange, Glenn Davies, Thomas Grinstead, Sarah Hockin, and Polly Murray. Students with UCAS points equivalent to three A grades or above include, Jake Moores, Robert Blomquist, Edward Aram, Antonia Bonagura, Karinder Brar, Charlotte Evans and Vsevolod Postnikov.
Head Boy Robert Barrett said he was relieved and delighted with his results. Robert is taking a gap year to go to India to teach and work with a children’s charity and next year plans to go to either Cambridge University or London School of Econmics (LSE) to study politics and philosophy.
Principal Hector MacDonald commented: "The results were close to the top end of our predictions for this enlarged cohort of talented students, and the percentage A* really pleasing, only exceeded to any extent in 2010/11. Our collective systematic work in each and every subject is paying dividends, and it is reassuring to be able to offer so many subjects and gain success for our students in so many. I am immensely proud of the teachers who made this possible, and to our talented Senior Leadership Team who continue to drive our school improvement agenda."
