Lambeth Academy Celebrates Best Ever GCSE Results

Students at Lambeth Academy are celebrating after achieving the academy’s best ever GCSE results. 63% of students achieved five or more A* to C grades including English and maths up from 54% last year. In total, 92% of students achieved five or more GCSEs at grades A* to C, up from 81% last year.

20% of students also attained the English Baccalaureate measure which recognises students who have secured a C grade or better across a core of academic subjects – English, mathematics, history or geography, the sciences and a language. In 2012, the national average for state-funded schools was 16%.

Commenting on the results, Jan Shadick, Principal of Lambeth Academy, said:

‘Students and staff have worked incredibly hard all year and today’s results are a fitting reward. These results demonstrate the significant progress being made at Lambeth Academy. I am delighted that so many students have chosen to stay on at the academy’s Sixth Form which, as last week’s results showed, continues to offer students the very best educational opportunities.

‘These results round off a great year for Lambeth Academy in which we were judged “Good” by Ofsted and achieved our best ever A Level results. All in all, we have much to celebrate and we can look forward to the next academic year with enthusiasm and confidence.’

These results build on last week’s success when the academy achieved its best ever A Level results. 43% of A Level and equivalent entries were awarded A*-A grades which 66% achieving A*-B grades. The academy also saw its first student gain a place at Oxbridge.
