Lincoln Minster School hosts Summer Concert at Lincoln Cathedral

“Lincoln Minster School held its Summer Concert last night in the Nave of Lincoln Cathedral, a wonderful setting for outstanding performances from our pupils, ranging in age from Year 3 to Year 13.

We were thoroughly spoilt with a mixture of traditional and classical music to contemporary, musicals and even some originals. There truly was something for everyone including our orchestra playing 'The Curse of the Black Pearl' from Pirates of the Caribbean, the cello ensemble playing Nirvana's 'Smells like teen spirit', a medley of the 'Phantom of the Opera' played by the symphonic wind band and the night conclude with our chamber choir singing a rendition of Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody'.

Many of our pupils were performing for the last time, as they complete their A-levels and move onto the next stage of their careers, so you can imagine the raw emotion in their performances. It was poignant that the second half of last night's performance was mostly our leavers performing solos. It was lovely for our younger pupils to see the confidence, energy and perfection of their art and, no doubt, feel inspired to be like the U6th in the not too distant future.

The Music Department of Natalie Hutchinson, Claire Bushell, Alison Charig and Gill Selemba will feel immensely proud – and rightly so. Mention should also be made of Maurice Davies who accompanied throughout on piano. Our peripatetic colleagues were also heavily involved and acknowledged for their support and professionalism.”

Mark Wallace, Headmaster of Lincoln Minster School
