Northampton Academy Students Celebrate A Level And Oxbridge Success

Students and staff at Northampton Academy are today celebrating another strong set of A Level results with grades improving on last year’s results.

And the academy has maintained its tradition of students accepting places at Oxbridge with Richard Lo awarded a place at Somerville College, Oxford to read Mathematics.

Over 20% of students in the Sixth Form have been accepted for places at Russell Group universities; the highest number the academy has ever achieved.

There were some notable individual successes who will now take up offers at their universities of choice. These include:

  • Solomon Kachere who was awarded A*,A,A and will read Economics at Birmingham University;
  • Dimuthu Muththettuwage  who achieved A*,A,A  and will read Physics at University College, University of London;
  • Muzzy Tijani  who achieved three As and will read Medicine at Queen Mary College, University of London;
  • David Asunmo  who was awarded three As and will study Computing at Kings College, University of London;
  • Nicole Wykes  who achieved an A and two Bs and will study Geography at Leeds University.

Congratulating the students on their success, Anne Hill, Principal of Northampton Academy, said:

“I am very pleased for each of our students celebrating today and who can now take up a place at university. Many of our students are the first in their families to go to university and it is always pleasing to see results open doors for their futures.

“All our students have worked hard for these results and they have been very well supported by our staff whom I would like to thank for their contribution to this success.

“Over the past few years we have built up a strong track record in our students achieving Oxbridge places so I am delighted for Richard that he will be going to Somerville College to study Maths.”
