After an extensive national recruitment exercise, United Learning and the Local Governing Body of Shoreham Academy have appointed Mr Jim Coupe as its Principal.
Mr Coupe has been Acting Principal of Shoreham Academy since September 2014. Previously he had been Vice Principal at the academy since it opened in 2009.
The Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ academy has had a resurgent year, performing excellently in this year’s league tables, with student progress amongst the very best in the county. Boys at the school are progressing faster than at any other in West Sussex.
Announcing the appointment, Jon Coles, Chief Executive of United Learning, said:
“We were looking for an exceptional Principal to build on the progress at Shoreham Academy and are delighted to have appointed Jim Coupe from a field of very strong candidates. Under his leadership the academy has enjoyed two highly successful terms and he is held in high esteem by students and staff alike.
“As Vice Principal since 2009 Mr Coupe played an important role in transforming the academy into an ‘Outstanding’ school. He is a talented leader and is well placed to guide the academy on the next stage of its journey.”
Mr Coupe said:
