Students secure Russell Group university places
Sixth Form students at Sheffield Park Academy are celebrating their A Level results today.
This year, the academy achieved a 100% pass rate for A Levels and equivalent qualifications, with 87% of entries achieving A* to B grades.
For A Levels only, 74% of entries achieved A*-C, which is an increase of 7 percentage points on 2015.
Students were also celebrating some excellent individual successes, including:
- Ayesha Yamin, who gained an A in Biology, a B in Maths and a B in Chemistry and will be studying Pharmacy at the University of Manchester;
- Leena Begum, who gained an A in Chemistry, a B in Maths and a B in Biology. She is going on to study Pharmacy at the University of Huddersfield;
- Gemma Windle, who achieved a Double Distinction and a Double Distinction Star, with a total of 560 UCAS points. She will take up a place at Sheffield Hallam University to study Early Childhood (the first in her family to attend university);
- Saira Mahmood, who gained two Distinction Stars and is going on to do American Studies at the University of Hull.
Claire Bailey, Associate Principal of Sheffield Park Academy, said:
“I am delighted that our results this year again show a 100% pass rate and that, as our A Level cohort grows in number, more students are gaining the higher grades and studying academic subjects that will open up a greater range of universities and career paths to them.
“Most importantly, I am proud of all our Sixth Form students whose dedication and hard work has paid off and our staff who have provided them with invaluable support and encouragement throughout the year.”
