Strong showing at GCSE for Lambeth Academy

Students from Lambeth Academy are celebrating after receiving their GCSE results today.

Overall, 58% of students achieved five or more good passes (grade 4 or above) including English and maths this year.

The academy also saw an increase in the number of students achieving the higher level pass (grade 5 or above) in both English and maths – this rose to 47% from 40% in 2018. The percentage of those achieving the top grades of 7 to 9 in the two subjects also increased – tripling to 16%.

There were also a number of particularly strong individual successes on the top grades of 7, 8 and 9. This included:

  • Lola Bewley de Castro, who achieved six 9s, an 8 and a 7, and will be returning in September to continue her studies at Lambeth Academy’s Sixth Form;
  • Rakin Ahmed, who achieved five 9s, two 8s and two 7s;
  • Aleksandr Limanovskij, who achieved five 9s, two 8s and one 7;

Leon Wilson, Executive Principal of Lambeth Academy, said:

“Congratulations to all our students celebrating their GCSE results today. It takes a great deal of dedication and determination to achieve highly in these examinations, so it is always gratifying to see students achieving the grades they were hoping for. In particular, we are pleased that more of them have achieved the higher level passes in the core subjects of English and maths.

“I would also like to thank staff, whom I know have worked incredibly hard over the year to help students make good progress. This support has been invaluable to students and is why so many of them are choosing to continue their studies at our Sixth Form. We look forward to welcoming them back in September, as well as our new Year 7s, for a successful academic year ahead.”
