Students at Swindon Academy are celebrating a strong set of A Level results today, with many now going on to study degree courses at university or going straight into careers of their choice.
Across the Sixth Form, for A Levels and equivalents, 70% of entries achieved A*-B grades – a significant increase on last year. The overall pass rate remained high at 100%.
There were also a number of individual success stories, including:
- David Williams, who achieved two A*s and two As and has been awarded a scholarship to study Zoology at Aberystwyth University;
- Beth Lane, who achieved a Distinction*, B and C and is taking up a place at Cardiff University to study English Literature and Creative Writing;
- Deller Chiarna, who gained three Distinction*s and is heading to Cardiff University in September to study Sport and Physical Education.
Ruth Robinson, Principal of Swindon Academy, said:
“It is wonderful to see students’ genuine pride in what they have been able to achieve and that more of them are going on to the university courses of their choice – a number of them will be the first in their families to do so.
“As such, I am very pleased for all our students celebrating today, with the knowledge that their hard work and dedication to their studies has really paid off. Staff, too, have put in a tremendous amount of effort to support and inspire our students to set their sights high and these results are a credit to them.”
