The Partnership Team

Developing #EducationWithCharacter through Groupwide Programmes

At United Learning, we deliver education with character. We work with leading organisations to offer our pupils exciting programmes that challenge them to experience new things, explore their interests and develop their talents. These wider opportunities equip our young people with the character attributes that will enable them to succeed in later life.

Being part of a national group, all of our schools are able to offer a wider range of experiences than they would be able to alone. Our pupils frequently come together to participate in shared experiences.

All of our enrichment programmes are delivered by our dedicated Partnerships Team.

Some recent highlights include:

  • In 2017-18, our Scholars’ Club enabled 640 students to receive 17 online talks on a wide range of academic topics, led my experts from universities and the world of industry

  • In 2018, 5,700 students across our schools benefitted from a visit from one of our Sports Ambassadors, which include World Champions and Olympic medallists

  • In 2017, over 1,000 students worked with the VCM and the acclaimed vocal ensemble, Apollo5, to premier Alexander L’Estrange’s ‘Wassail! Carols of Comfort and Joy’ at Southwark Cathedral and the Royal Northern College of Music. The project was awarded ‘Best Classical Music Education Initiative’ at the 2018 Music Teacher Awards

  • 30 schools took part in our group-wide sport fundraising project, RideABC, a 600-mile bike ride from Ashford to Bournemouth to Carlisle

  • Since 2016, 7,000 children have taken part in our cultural festivals, which have worked with partners to bring together activities across sport, music, dance, drama and art

  • In 2016, we worked in partnership with English Pocket Opera Company to bring opera to over 7,000 students across our schools. More than 35 performances of ‘Opera Blocks’ took place across our schools

More than 1,000 students performed Zimbe!, by Alexander L’Estrange at London’s Lyceum Theatre in 2016, conducted by the composer and sung to a sold-out audience

The Pupil Charter

As part of our commitment to deliver education with character, we have devised The Pupil Charter. This sets out our expectations for the enrichment entitlement that each pupil will receive during their career in a United Learning school.

"All children, regardless of their background, deserve the cultural and social experiences that broaden opportunities and bring out the best in everyone. United Learning’s Partnerships Team make these opportunities a reality for all of our students: working with leading organisations, they give our young people the chances to develop their interests and talents well beyond the four walls of the classroom."

Dame Sally Coates, Director of Academies

United Learning is also delighted to work in partnership with a number of charities and organisations who support our work to ensure that every single pupil receives an excellent school experience.
