William Hulme’s Grammar School students launch Lionesses’ kit for Women’s World Cup

William Hulme’s Grammar School’s (WHGS) Salma Ali and Zionne-Renee Masih-Johnson helped launched the England Women’s Football Team’s new kit.

The event, which took place on 10th May at St George’s Park, was hosted by Nike and Sports Direct and formed part of the build-up to this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup , which starts next month in France.

Year 8 students Salma and Zionne-Renee were picked to take part following their participation in educational charity Football Beyond Border’s (FBB) schools programme, in which they demonstrated ‘excellent engagement’ and a ‘passion for football.’

During their time at St George’s Park, the dynamic duo were put through their paces with a gym workout and kickabout in the amazing indoor facilities.  They also had a chance to meet some of the England players.

Commenting on the experience, Salma said:

“I really enjoy the work we do with Football Beyond Borders and to get the opportunity to go to St George’s Park and help launch the England team’s new kit was amazing.”

WHGS Principal Peter Mulholland said:

“As a school committed to deliver an Education with Character, we are delighted to work alongside Football Beyond Borders and its schools’ programme, which has proved extremely popular with all those who have taken part.  We are also incredibly proud of both Salma and Zionne-Renee, who have shown real commitment to the programme and who were worthy recipients of the trip to St George’s Park.”
