Students and staff at Newstead Wood School are embarking on a new chapter today as the school joins United Learning. The Orpington school, which became an academy in 2011, joins the group of academies and independent schools including Guildford High School, Surbiton High School and Ashford School.
As part of United Learning, Newstead Wood students will be able to enjoy exciting activities designed to enhance their overall school experience and staff will benefit from the Group’s wide range of high-quality professional development opportunities.
Nick Webb, Interim Head Teacher at Newstead Wood School, said:
“Today marks an important moment for Newstead Wood School. In joining United Learning, I am excited by the new opportunities that we can offer and we look forward to working with all the other schools in the Group.’
At the beginning of term, Mr Webb announced his decision to retire at the end of the academic year. The governors of Newstead Wood and United Learning will now begin the process to appoint his successor.
Jon Coles, Chief Executive of United Learning, said:
“We are very pleased that Newstead Wood has chosen to join United Learning and we are delighted to welcome the students, staff and parents into our Group. Newstead Wood is a thriving, ambitious and high-performing school and we look forward to benefiting from their significant expertise. Likewise, we hope to share our own best practice with the school so that together we can offer students the very best educational opportunities.”
