Education With Character

Academic success is very important. Exam passes are an important aspect of that. But there is more to a good education. Our schools also aim to develop character, compassion and service. Young people are expected to contribute to their school and to society; to try things which they think they cannot do; to persist in the face of difficulty; to become resilient in overcoming obstacles; to manage themselves; to work independently on things which challenge them; to work with others and in teams; to be courageous and caring; to lead.

We want young people to look back on a joyful schooling which has inspired and challenged them, given them wide opportunity and prepared them for the ups and downs of life.

Pupil Charter

Our pupil charters for primary and secondary set out the core experiences beyond the classroom that we believe all children in the group should have. They are supported by a set of co-curricular expectations which outlines the structures a school needs to have in place to deliver the commitments in the Pupil Charter.

Enrichment programme

We work with leading organisations to offer our pupils exciting programmes that challenge them to experience new things, explore their interests and develop their talents.

These wider opportunities equip our young people with the character attributes that will enable them to succeed in later life. Being part of a national group, all of our schools are able to offer a wider range of experiences than they would be able to alone. Our pupils frequently come together to participate in shared experiences. All of our enrichment programmes are delivered by our dedicated Partnerships Team.

Careers education

Our careers education provision seeks to support all United Learning pupils to develop ambition and aspiration for a fulfilling and successful working life.

We want our pupils to leave school with high aspirations and make informed decisions on their next choice of destinations. Embedding careers education in the culture of our schools from the outset, and providing a coherent careers journey, allows our pupils to take responsibility for their personal development and make the most of all opportunities presented to them.
