The Cornerstone Academy is today celebrating another fantastic year of GCSE outcomes, which have firmly cemented improvements on key headline measures over recent years.
In fact, this year, the percentage of students achieving a Grade 4 and 5 or above in both English and maths increased further in comparison to 2024 as a reflection of everything students and staff have done to uphold high standards.
Alongside the whole-year achievements, there were many individual student success stories. Just some of these are:
- Alfie M, who achieved four grade 8s, three grade 7s, and two grade 6s;
- Ella-Louise T: two grade 8s, four grade 7s, and three grade 6s;
- Zoe H, who also achieved a spread of good grades
The day’s celebrations were a chance for Cornerstone’s Year 11s to reflect on their hard work and resilience throughout the course of their studies, as well as everything they have achieved at the school. With some excellent performances across the year group, the students are now securing their next steps in their education, further study and employment.
One student collecting his results today, Mark, said:
“We have worked really hard and as a result we have got what we deserved. Without the school’s support, wouldn't have go the grades that I did. I am really sad to leave but excited about my apprenticeship.”
Another student, Alfie, said:
“I am really happy with my results. Thank you to everyone who has supported me. It is a great school, and I have achieved the best grades that I needed to allow me to go to Sixth Form to complete A Levels in English, Maths and History".
One parent of a student added:
"Thank you so much for all the dedication you have given to the students; time, patience, encouragement and all the extra revision. I don't know any other place where staff put so much time, effort and energy, we are so grateful for all you have done. It is down to the enthusiasm of the staff that the students have done so well. Thank you.”
Chris Phillips, Principal of The Cornerstone Academy, commented:
“We are absolutely delighted for our students celebrating their GCSE results today, which are a real credit to each of them and to the hard work they’ve put in. These achievements also reflect the collective effort of parents and staff to support students and we’d like to thank everyone for the vital part they play in days like today.
“What is fantastic is that not only have students had some brilliant individual performances, but also that the year group’s results demonstrate further improvement as our school continues to go from strength to strength. Our mantra is ‘Expect the Best’ and that is exactly the ethos that drives our ambition for students and for our whole school community.
“I wish the Class of 2025 every success as they move forward into colleges, sixth forms, and apprenticeships. Their future is bright and we couldn’t be prouder.”
