Celebrations continue at The Regis School with best ever GCSE results

Catgeories : GCSE results

This morning, pupils at The Regis School are once again celebrating as they receive their GCSE results.

The Regis School has seen results improve across all measures with 58% of pupils achieving a grade 5 or above in both English and maths as well as nearly three quarters securing that all important, grade 4 or above in both subjects. The number of pupils achieving top grades has also increased, including 36% of pupils achieving a grade 7 and above in maths.

These results reflect the hard work and determination of the students and will enable them to progress confidently into their chosen next steps, including The Regis School Sixth Form, apprenticeships and further education opportunities.

Pupils celebrating include:

  • Lorena who achieved four grade 9s and six grade 8s;
  • Bessie who achieved five grade 9s, one grade 8 and two grade 7s;
  • Nathan who achieved four grade 9s, five grade 8s, one grade 7 and a Distinction*;
  • George who achieved four grade 9s, four grade 8s, one grade 7 and a Distinction*;
  • Savannah who achieved four grade 9s, four grade 8s and one grade 7;
  • Kristian who achieved three grade 9s, six grade 8s, one grade 7s and a Distinction*;
  • Ethan who achieved four grade 9s, two grade 8s and three grade 7s.

Reflecting on her results, Lorena said:

“To be one of the highest achievers in my year is something I am incredibly proud of and definitely a little shocked by.  I am deeply grateful for the teachers who believed in my ability, more than myself, as well as the SEND and pastoral teams for supporting me throughout.  It goes to show anything is achievable with hard work, dedication and encouragement despite any challenges you might face.”

Today’s GCSE results follow last week’s very strong A Level results when almost three quarters of entries were graded A* to B, with 43% of entries awarded the top A* and A grades.

Commenting on the results, Jo Lewis, Principal at The Regis School, said:

“Following our excellent A Level results last week, it is fantastic to once again be celebrating the achievements of our students. Across the curriculum, students have worked incredibly hard and should be immensely proud of all they have accomplished. Many have been building strong foundations since Year 7, developing not only academically but also in character, demonstrating the resilience, confidence and determination that have undoubtedly enabled them to succeed.

“These results are a testament to the commitment and hard work of our students, alongside the dedication of our staff and the unwavering support of parents and carers. We are particularly pleased to see a rise in attainment across all subject areas, especially in the number of students achieving strong passes in English and mathematics."

These are not only grades that reflect students’ hard work and success, but qualifications that give them choice and opportunity as they move on to the next stage of education, training or employment. For many, that next step will be here with us in our Sixth Form.

“The achievements celebrated today reflect the strength of the entire Regis School community. We are delighted that our students can move forward confidently into their next steps, and we wish them every success for the future. We now look forward to building on this success as we begin another exciting academic year in September.”
