There were plenty of celebrating students at Conisborough College this morning, as GCSEs were awarded across the country.
The day saw a range of Year 11s picking up the higher level grades across core subjects – including a number with the top grade 9s.
Among them was Victor, who achieved a grade 9s in maths and a grade 9-9 in Combined Science, as well as four grade 8s. Reflecting on the moment, he said:
“I’m really pleased with all of my results and excited to study A Levels.”
Artyom, achieved a grade 9 in Russian along with grade 8s in English and maths and a handful of grade 7s, while Denisha achieved a grade 9-8 in Combined Science and an array of grade 8s across her other subjects.
Maya, who achieved grade 9 in History, a grade 9-8 in Combined Science and grade 8s in maths, English Literature and Spanish, said:
“I’m so happy with my grade 9 in history. My combined science grade is the highest I’ve ever achieved.”
Sharon was equally pleased with her grade 8s across a number of STEM subjects because of what it means for her next steps, saying:
“I’m excited to study A Level maths and physics.”
Other students congratulated for particularly strong individual outcomes and progress included Miriam, Connie, Pukalnila, Thao and Lyna.
Lucy Oragano, Principal of Conisborough College, said:
“I would like to congratulate our students who are celebrating today and who have worked so hard during their time at the College. We are making sustained progress as a school and have a very bright future ahead of us. We look forward to welcoming our new Year 7s in September and working closely with them to ensure they quickly settle in and enjoy everything we have to offer here as they begin their secondary education.”
