Among those celebrating were four exceptional pupils who achieved clean sweeps across the board for the top Grade 9: Felix, Rory, Ned and Joe M.
Ned said of his results:
"Thank you everyone especially Miss Sumner for supporting me through the last five years.”
Joe M added:
"I got a 9 in English Language but I can’t find the words to express my gratitude to the school.”
They were by no means the only pupils at The John Roan School rightly celebrating, however, as many others were singled out for praise by their teachers for particularly impressive individual achievements. This includes:
- Ruslan, who made three grades’ progress in both English Literature and Language and one grade of progress in maths since February thanks to his tireless efforts and hard work;
- Alexey, who secured a strong pass in both English and maths all while representing England in international Judo competitions – which required significant travel around Europe balanced with his GCSE studies;
- Matilda and Leciasilver, who matched strong performances with top grades in their English and science studies. Leciasilver achieved two Grade 9s in combined science and Matilda achieved a Grade 8 and a Grade 9 across English literature and language;
- Suheib, whose hard work gained him the grades he needed to secure his first-choice Sixth Form destination – The John Roan School Sixth Form.
Today’s celebrations add to the summer of success at The John Roan School – building on last week’s results at A Level and BTEC with further improvements seen on key headline measures at the school. With many of this Year 11 cohort choosing to return to the school for their own A Level studies, they will no doubt be hoping to secure equally impressive results and destinations – with 2026’s Year 13 now heading off to some exciting first-choice academic, vocational or technical pathways, including Oxbridge.
Dr Jennie Sanderson, Principal at The John Roan School, said of pupils’ achievements:
“It is fantastic to see such pride and excitement across our school as students receive their GCSE results and reflect on everything they have achieved so far in their learning. Each of them can take their next steps forward knowing that they worked hard, they displayed ambition and they have grown in confidence throughout their time with us.
“What is particularly gratifying is that so many of these Year 11s will be joining us in the Autumn to begin their A Level and BTEC studies. This is in no small part due to the excellent support, challenge and encouragement students receive from our wonderful staff team, who also deserve our thanks and praise on days such as today.
“We wish all our students well today and look forward to seeing them build on these achievements in the next stage of their education and lives.”
