Many of the academy’s Year 11 students are set to continue their studies at Kettering Buccleuch Academy’s Sixth Form in September.

Following last week’s tremendous A Level success, students and staff at Kettering Buccleuch Academy (KBA) are enjoying the celebrations as GCSE results are awarded across the country.

With over three quarters (77%) of students achieving 4 or above in both English and maths this year, many of the academy’s Year 11 students are looking forward to continuing their studies at KBA’s Sixth Form in September.

The academy’s top performers at GCSE include:

  • Kyla, who achieved seven grade 9s, one grade 6 and one grade 4;
  • Euan, who achieved six grade 9s, one grade 8, one grade 7 and one grade 6;
  • Jacob, who achieved five grade 9s, two grade 8s, one grade 7, one grade 6 and one Level 2 Merit;
  • Amelia, who achieved four grade 9s, four grade 8s, and one grade 6;
  • Isabel, who achieved three grade 9s, two grade 8s, three grade 7s and one grade 6;
  • Tomas, who achieved three grade 9s, four grade 8s, one grade 5 and one Level 2 Distinction*;
  • William, who achieved two grade 9s, four grade 8s and three grade 7s.

Amelia said:

“I am really pleased with my results, especially Science. I want to thank my teachers - they are a huge part of why I got these grades and I am looking forward to KBA sixth form.”

Kyla added:

“I walked in expecting quite good grades, but I didn't expect this. They are amazing. I worked really hard and it has all been worth it. I cannot wait to start KBA sixth form.”

This year’s Year 11s will no doubt be hoping to repeat Sixth Formers’ success at A Level. Last week’s results saw over a quarter (26%) of the school’s entries achieving the top A*-A grades and 85% receiving A*-C grades.

With these superb grades under their belts, the Year 13s were able to confirm places at their universities of choice. An impressive four students are set to take up places at Oxbridge whilst many more will be heading to other prestigious Russell Group institutions.

Reflecting on the Year 11s’ achievements, Dino Di Salvo, Principal at Kettering Buccleuch Academy, said:

“These grades are the culmination of years of focus and hard work for our students and I am so pleased that their efforts have paid off. Due to the pandemic, this year’s cohort has faced more challenges than most during their secondary learning, so to achieve such strong results really is testament to their resilience.

“Each student should be very proud of how they performed in their first external examinations, knowing that they can move on with confidence to the next stages of their education. It is particularly gratifying that we will be welcoming many of them back in the autumn to our Sixth Form, where I know our dedicated staff team will continue to prove invaluable in their support, guidance and encouragement as at GCSE.”
