Pupils and staff at the school – soon to become Marylebone Academy this September – gathered to mark the occasion and to reflect on all that had been achieved. Many young people were thrilled to have secured some top grades thanks to their hard work and determination.
Among those celebrating were:
- Leke, who achieved a stunning ten Grade 9s including all three Sciences, Business, French and History;
- Mahmoud, who achieved eight Grade 9s, two Grade 8s and a Grade 7. This included Grade 9s in Computer Science, French and History and a Grade 9 in Arabic GCSE which he achieved in Year 10;
- Aydin, who achieved three Grade 9s, three Grade 8s and four Grade 7s. This included Grade 9s in Mathematics, Physics and Business Studies.
With their GCSEs secured, many of the year group are preparing to return to the school's Sixth Form, which celebrated its own successes at A Level last week. The Year 13s secured grades which enabled them to take up some fantastic destinations including the University of Cambridge and Russell Group institutions.
The day capped off what has been a summer filled with celebrations, as the school prepares to become Marylebone Academy next month – ahead of welcoming girls into Year 7 for the first time from September 2027.
Reflecting on the day, Richard Ardron, Principal at Marylebone Boys’ School, said:
“This is a significant milestone in our students’ school careers and one which firmly demonstrates the importance of hard work, dedication and resilience. I am very pleased for all our students celebrating today in the knowledge that they can move forward with confidence in their abilities and progress successfully onto Sixth Form and further study.
“There have been some impressive examples of individual achievement and, just as importantly, many students who have challenged themselves to achieve beyond what they thought was possible. This character and ambition is a credit to our students and to the efforts of staff in supporting them.”
