This year, 42% of students gained a grade 7 or higher in both English and maths. For English and maths alone, 50% of students achieved at least a grade 7 in each subject respectively.
This trend of achievement at the top of the grade scale also meant a strong proportion of students gaining grade 9s. With 264 grade 9s across the year group, many students were rewarded for their hard work with the highest possible outcomes.
Among those students celebrating truly standout performances are:
- Zayn, who achieved an immense 13 grade 9s, as well as a grade 8;
- Ernest, who achieved eleven straight grade 9s;
- Paul R, who also achieved eleven grade 9s;
- Nizar, who achieved nine grade 9s and one grade 7.
These results follow last week’s A Level success, which saw students secure places at a range of top universities, including the University of Oxford and King’s College London, among others. Many of this year’s Year 11s will now be looking forward to continuing their studies at A Level as they return to the school’s Sixth Form in a few short weeks.
Dame Sally Coates, Principal of Holland Park School, said:
“I am extremely pleased for all those students who are celebrating their GCSE results today. They have been a magnificent cohort and a pleasure to teach. These extremely strong results set them up well for our Sixth Form and, as our A Level results showed last week, bright futures at universities across the country.
“Staff across the school play a vital role in the success of our students; not only teachers but everyone who works here who, in a variety of ways, contributes to setting the tone, ethos and behaviours that encourage our students to work hard and enjoy their learning.”
