Over three quarters (78%) of students achieved a grade 4 or above in both English and maths, with 65% of students achieving a grade 5 or above in both subjects. Earning the very highest grades, over a quarter (27%) of students achieved a grade 7 or above in the two subjects.
Some of the school’s standout performers – all of whom achieved several grade 9s - include:
- Emily, who achieved nine grade 9s;
- Tadiwa, who achieved seven grade 9s and two grade 8s;
- Somtochukwu, who achieved five grade 9s, two grade 8s and two grade 7s;
- Aaron, who achieved two grade 9s and seven grade 8s.
These strong results follow last week’s A Level success, which saw an impressive 40% of students at the school secure places at prestigious Russell Group institutions, including Durham University and Kings College London.
Megan Harris, Principal at Goresbrook School, said:
“Congratulations to all our students on today’s GCSE results which are a sign of the strength, resilience and aptitude of this Year 11 cohort. It is fantastic to see so many of our students smiling and feeling rightly proud of their achievements after dedicating so much time and energy to their studies.
“Thank you to all our staff who go above and beyond to provide our young people with opportunities, both inside and outside of the classroom, to grow as young people and excel. I look forward to welcoming many of our departing Year 11s back into our Sixth Form in September where I have no doubt that they will continue to excel and serve as excellent role models to their younger peers.”
