Manchester Academy Proud of Year 11s on GCSE Day

Students unlock the grades to pursue their talents in the next steps of education.

Year 11 students at Manchester Academy have been celebrating today after receiving some excellent GCSE results.
After dedicating their efforts to their studies, students across the cohort were rewarded with a strong set of results.  This year, an impressive 72% of students achieved a 4 or above in English, with Maths (59%) and Science (53.7%) also performing strongly. A 5 and above was achieved on average by 51.5 % of students in these subject areas, and an average grade of 4.59 was attained in the Ebacc category overall.
These figures reflect an improved set of results at the school in English and maths, whilst many other subjects also saw students pleased with their outcomes. In the triple sciences, over 83% of students achieved a strong pass with results in Biology particularly rising.
Those celebrating their results today include:
  • Chisom and David who joined the school community in Year 10 and Year 11 respectively, having relocated from abroad. Both students showed determination and resilience preparing for their GCSEs whilst adapting to a new academic environment. Having today secured his results, Chisom plans to go to Loreto College in St Albans having achieved eight grade 9s, as she aspires for a career in Healthcare. Meanwhile David, who showed his leadership through his role as School President, is taking his passion for learning to pursue a career in surgery.
  • Hayden became part of the Manchester Academy community in Year 9 and today celebrates five grade 9s, four grade 8s, plus a Level 2 Merit and Distinction. He is excited to start his next steps in the autumn pursuing a vocational pathway for Post-16s in Music Performance.
  • Ekemena, a dedicated student since Year 7, has flourished across both the sciences and the arts. Her enthusiasm and multifaceted talents for these have paved the way in her pursuit of a career in Architecture or Interior Design.
  • Ayat and Man Hei, who both achieved four grade 9s
  • Deborah and Brianna, who achieved three grade 9s
