This morning there have been celebrations underway right across The John Roan School’s Sixth Form as the release of A Level results meant many secured their first-choice destinations – ranging from Music at Cambridge to the Royal Veterinary College.
This year across the Sixth Form, a quarter (26%) of all A Level entries were graded as either A or A*, with increases in almost all key headline measures.
Talented pianist Jacob Bevan has secured a place at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge to read Music – a first in the school’s long history. Jacob achieved an A* in Mathematics as well as As in Music and Geography.
Meanwhile Alfie Montgomery will be taking up an offer at Worcester College, Oxford to read Geography after securing two A*s and two As across his A Level qualifications.
Fellow Sixth Former Roman Kirkov was very pleased to achieve the grades he needed – an A* and two As across Biology, Maths and Chemistry – to secure his place at the Royal Veterinary College, London to study Bioveterinary Science.
Taking up her place at Durham University will be Abelle Tchuangang who is looking forward to reading Computer Science and Maths, after achieving two A*s and a B in her A Level studies.
Meanwhile, Joao-Gabriel Cezar will be remaining in London to attend University College London (UCL) where he has secured an offer to study History.
Aspiring medic Jae’da Anderson – who was thrilled to find out she achieved two A*s and an A at A Level – is looking forward to beginning her degree in Medicine at the University of Southampton.
Commenting on the day, Dr Jennie Sanderson, Principal at The John Roan School, said:
“Today has been full of smiles and celebrations as students get the chance to reflect on everything they have achieved and what they can now look forward to.
“These Sixth Formers have proven their determination, resilience and ambition to achieve highly and we are thrilled that so many have secured their destinations of choice. I hope they share in the pride we feel for them as staff, and that they can now move forward with confidence and take that same determination into their adult lives.
“As we congratulate students, I also want to thank our staff who work tirelessly to ensure every Sixth Former has the support, guidance and encouragement they need to achieve their best.”
