Marylebone Sixth Formers look ahead to bright futures as A Levls are awarded

Catgeories : A Level results

Today, Sixth Form pupils at MBS Sixth Form – which will soon officially become Marylebone Academy – enjoyed a morning of celebrations as they received their A Levels and secured some excellent destinations.

The co-educational Sixth Form saw nearly half (45%) of all A Level entries graded A* to B, with particularly strong results achieved in Maths and Economics where 58% and 88% of entries achieved A*-B respectively.

Among those celebrating was Ayah Mamode who has secured her place at Downing College, Cambridge to read Human, Social and Political Science after achieving straight As in Economics, History and Politics. Alongside her A Level studies, Ayah dedicates much of her time to supporting the local community – whether running fundraising initiatives and events or through her role as a Youth MP. She is very excited to be pursuing her keen interest in politics further with her studies at Cambridge this Autumn.

Commenting on her results and destination, Ayah said:

“I am happy about my results and never expected to do so well. A Levels are very stressful, so I am very happy right now as I feel all my hard work has paid off.”

Year 13 Mariam Salam is equally delighted to be taking up a place at Queen Mary University of London to study Dentistry, after achieving A*s in Biology and Psychology and an A in Chemistry. Congratulating her on her achievements, Mariam’s teachers remarked on her maturity, resilience and positive mindset – constantly resulting in her performing at the top of her class.

Year 13 Ahmed Osman has successfully secured his place to study Medicine at the University of Leeds after receiving straight As in Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. Alongside his outstanding academic achievements, Ahmed took part in the Imperial Health Charity volunteering programme at St Mary's Hospital earlier this year, completing 30 hours of volunteering. He also led a mental health awareness campaign within the school, experiences that reflect his dedication to healthcare and community service as he prepares to study Medicine.

Also celebrating achieving top grades was Anish Chhetri, who gained an A* in Economics as well as A grades in Mathematics and Business Studies. Anish has both offers from Queen Mary’s to study Economics and an apprenticeship at accountancy firm BDO. He is yet still to decide which route he will take.

The school will, from 1st September, be known formally as Marylebone Academy in recognition of it moving to accept girls into Year 7 from September 2027 – building on the success of its co-educational offering at Sixth Form.

Commenting on the day, Headteacher, Richard Ardron, who retires this summer, said:

“Today was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and reflect with students on all they have achieved – whether since Year 7 or for the past two years of Sixth Form – and how they have made their mark at Marylebone.

“Achieving highly at A Levels requires hard work and dedication but is of course only one part of securing the best post-18 destinations. Our Sixth Formers taking up their next steps of choice can also take pride in the skills, character and confidence they have developed alongside their academic studies, knowing they will serve them long into adulthood.

“As we say our congratulations and goodbyes to these Year 13s, I also want to thank everyone on our excellent staff team and across the wider school community for the part they play in our young people’s success. Today’s achievements are ones I hope we can all share pride in.”
