This year, around two-thirds (64%) of students achieved a grade 4 or above in both English and maths, with 42% achieving a grade 5 or higher in the two subjects.
Alongside the collective achievements of the year group, there were also a number of individual highlights for students. This included Isis J, who was excited to have achieved one grade 9, two grade 8s, five grade 7s and one grade 6. Another Year 11, Frankie J, was delighted to receive one grade 9, five grade 8s, one grade 7, one grade 5 and a Level 2 Distinction.
Last week, the school saw a significant increase in higher-level grades in the Sixth Form, which meant that many students were excited to graduate from the school securing the next steps in their education. A number of today’s Year 11s are already looking forward to returning to Sedgehill Academy to begin their A Level and vocational studies this autumn.
Clare Cassidy, Principal of Sedgehill Academy, said of the day:
“We are very proud of the hard work, focus and ambition our students have shown throughout their studies and it is a pleasure to see so many of them celebrating their exam successes today. This is an important step for our young people in their school careers and with these qualifications they will be able to move onto the next stage of education successfully.
“Today’s achievements would not have been possible if not for the guidance and support of our staff team and the efforts of parents and families in encouraging students. We would like to thank all our school community as we celebrate our collective successes and look forward to a new academic year.”
