Bacon’s College was a hub of excitement this morning, as Year 11 students received their GCSE results and celebrated their successes.
Over half of the whole year group (53%) achieved a grade 5 or above in both English and mathematics this year, with around a fifth (19%) achieving a grade 7 or above in the two subjects.
Adding to the overall atmosphere, a large number of students were celebrating their own particularly impressive performances – with a raft of the top grade 9s secured. This included:
- Kavya, who achieved an exceptional nine grade 9s;
- Mariya, who achieved seven grade 9s, one grade 8 and two grade 7s;
- Amelia, who achieved six grade 9s, three grade 8s and one Level 2 Distinction;
- Edison, who achieved six grade 9s, one grade 8 and three grade 7s;
- Abdul Majeed, who achieved six grade 9s, three grade 8s and one grade 6;
- May, who achieved five grade 9s and five grade 8s;
- Alex, who achieved four grade 9s, four grade 8s and three grade 7s;

With these GCSEs secured, many of the year group are excited to return to the school’s Sixth Form to continue their A Level and vocational studies. Last week, the Sixth Form celebrated its own day of success which saw students gain places at a range of prestigious universities, including The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), King’s College London and University College London (UCL).
James Wilson, Principal of Bacon’s College, said:
“It’s been wonderful today to see our GCSE cohort celebrating their results. They have worked extremely hard throughout their time here and thoroughly deserve their grades. These results are just a stepping stone, however, for the next stage of their education and we have been pleased today to see the enthusiasm they have shown for joining our thriving Sixth Form.
“We have an excellent team ethos at Bacon’s where staff support students throughout their learning, so I’d like also to congratulate all my colleagues for the excellent work they do. This is reflected in the results our students have received today.”
