This year, an impressive three quarters of pupils (73%) achieved a Grade 5 or above in both English and Maths. A third of them (34%) achieved a Grade 7 or higher in the two subjects.
This is even higher than seen last year – meaning more pupils achieving the highest grades across the two key GCSE measures.
In addition to the key headline measures, there were a number of standout measures for individual subject areas. 42% of Year 11s achieved a Grade 7 or higher in maths, while 94% of them achieved a Grade 7 or above in Chinese – which has become a popular subject at the school.
Among those pupils celebrating their own particular successes were:
- Nicoleta R, who achieved a clean sweep of eleven Grade 9s;
- Harry T, who achieved eight Grade 9s and three Grade 8s;
- Malika S, who achieved seven Grade 9s and five Grade 8s;
- Angela M, who achieved seven Grade 9s and four Grade 8s;
- Marwa N, who achieved seven Grade 9s, two Grade 8s and two Grade 7s.
Commenting on yet another year of improving GCSE results, Leon Wilson, Principal at The Hurlingham Academy, said:
“This is always a proud moment for our students, staff and families and one which we are very pleased to share in. Students’ celebrations today have been well earnt and reflect their tenacity, hard work and ambition over many years of study – not least the past two.
“Our Year 11s are wonderful ambassadors, leaders and peers and it is a pleasure to see them receive the grades they need to move on to some brilliant next steps. We are excited for each of them as they move forward successfully and as we do so may I take the opportunity to thank staff members for their tireless support and encouragement of students.”
