Catgeories : GCSE results Group news

90% of students achieved a grade 4 or above in English.

Results celebrations have continued this week at Goresbrook School in Barking and Dagenham, after Year 11 students collected their GCSE results today.

This year, three quarters (74%) of students achieved a grade four or above in both English and Maths, with well over half (58%) achieving grade 5 or above in the two subjects.

Students performed particularly well in English, with 90% achieving a grade 4 or above.

Amongst those individuals celebrating their results today are:

  • Adnan Khan, who achieved six grade 9s and three grade 8s;
  • Adrian Botnaru, who achieved seven grade 9s and two grade 7s;
  • Esther Migan, who achieved one grade 9, five grade 8s and three grade 7s;
  • Jessica Vickers, who achieved a grade 9, five grade 8s and two grade 7s;
  • Dharla Crawford, who achieved three grade 9s, two grade 8s, and two grade 7s;
  • Shayne Jacob Thomas, who achieved five grade 8s and three grade 7s.

Another standout student, Pranay Dohal, achieved two grade 9s, four grade 8s and three grade 7s, and said:

I was extremely nervous to pick up my results however I am very happy with the results that I have achieved. I received much higher grades than I expected in both English Language and Literature. I am extremely happy to have received a grade 9 in both Maths and Geography.

This follows on from last week’s successes at the school’s Sixth Form, where over half of students secured places at Russell Group universities. One student in particular, Adam Stanbridge, was celebrating his place to read Chemistry at Lincoln College, Oxford, after achieving 3 A*s.

Congratulating students on their results, Megan Harris, Principal at Goresbrook School, said:

We’re extremely proud of our Year 11 students – they have shown so much enthusiasm and dedication to their studies and it is always wonderful to see them celebrate the results of their hard work. Across the school we have had much to celebrate this year, and I am very grateful to all our staff – as well as our wider school community – for everything they do to support our young people to thrive and enjoy their learning.
