Congratulations to Paddington Academy's class of ’23!

95% of A Levels graded A*-C and 40% A*-A.

Students and staff at Paddington Academy are celebrating today as its Year 13 students once again achieved impressive A level results. 40% of all grades were A*-A, 95% were A*-C and the overall pass rate was 100%, enabling students to take up some excellent university offers.

The academy had a similarly good performance in its vocational qualifications with 72% of entries achieving grade Distinction or Distinction*.  93% were graded at Merit or above.

These strong results mean over 40% of students already have a confirmed place at a Russell Group university (four times the national average) with more expected to be confirmed in the coming days. This includes seven students attending University College London and four attending King’s College London.

One distinctive feature of the cohort is the number taking up medical courses: three students are studying Medicine, one Dentistry and four Pharmacology.

Students celebrating today include:

  • Ahmad Abdulaziz who gained three A*s in Maths, Politics and Geography and will study Politics at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)
  • Jinan Chehab who gained two A* grades and one A in Chemistry, Maths and Biology and will study Medicine at Corpus Christi College, University of Cambridge
  • Turhanur Rahman who achieved three A* grades and one B and will study Maths and Economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)
  • Mahdi Shikha who achieved three A* grades and will study Physics at Imperial College London

Year 13 student, Ahmad Abdulaziz, said:

“I’m so pleased that seven years of hard work has paid off and I’m able to go to LSE to study the course I’ve always wanted to do. My dream is to one day work in politics or become an MP. I couldn’t have done it without the teachers at Paddington Academy. They have made it an experience second to none.”

Commenting on the students’ successes, Peter Jones, Principal at Paddington Academy, said;

“This is a yet another fantastic set of results and I am very proud of what our students have achieved, not least as these were the first external examinations that the students have taken due to the pandemic.

“It is particularly pleasing that so many students have secured places to study their chosen subjects at their preferred universities.  I have no doubt that they will display the same level of commitment to their university courses as they have done whilst at school.

“I wish our Year 13 leavers the very best and thank them for the contribution they have all made to our academy community. They are a shining example of what can be achieved and will prove an inspiration for our younger students as they look to achieve similar goals."
