This year, the percentage of pupils who achieved a Grade 4 or above in both English and Maths or above in both, increased to 62.2% with many pupils performing above their expected grades.

With their GCSEs secured, many pupils are preparing to return to the school's thriving Sixth Form, which celebrated its Year 13 pupils' A Level and BTEC results last week. Those completing their Sixth Form studies are now taking up a range of excellent further and higher educational options ranging from technical and vocational pathways to top academic institutions, such as Durham University and Harper and Keele Veterinary School.

Adam who has achieved:

• 2 x Grade 9s in Chemistry and Polish;
• 3 x Grade 8s in Biology, Maths and Physics;
• 6 in English Language, Literature and German;
• 5 in History;

Anastasia who has achieved: 

• 4 x Grade 8s including Chemistry, Maths, History and Physics;
• Grade 7s in German and Biology;
• 5 English Literature and Russian;
• M2 in H≻

Rebecca who has achieved:

• Grade 9 in English Literature;
• Three Grade 8s in English Lang, History and RS;
• D*2 in two BTECS: Child Dev and H≻

Adam said: 

“I am very happy with my results, in particular my Maths, Physics and Biology grades. I am staying on at Central for A levels and I intend to study Maths, Biology and Physics. My ultimate plan is to go to university with the intention of studying Medicine.”

Courtney said: 

"It's a huge surprise for me to get a 9 English Literature and Physics. I'm delighted and very happy. To future Year 11s I'd say: push yourself to the hardest!"

Ava said: 

"I'm very happy and looking forward to coming back to Central Academy 6th form. I'm now deciding whether to go on to study Pharmacy or Occupational Therapy at University"

“It is always a pleasure to be with our students when they receive their GCSE results. For some it is the culmination of five happy and successful years at Central but for an increasing number it is the stepping stone to joining our excellent Sixth Form.

“Everyone locally appreciates how hard students at Central work and how dedicated our staff and families are in supporting them. After last week’s A Level and BTEC success, it’s great to see our Year 11s also doing so well.”
