First-Choice University Places for The John Roan School Sixth Formers

A Level results enable the vast majority of students to secure their first-choice university places, including at Cambridge, Bristol and Edinburgh.

Sixth Formers at The John Roan School in Greenwich are celebrating their hard work paying off as they receive their A Level results today, with the vast majority having secured places at their first-choice universities.

Among the students celebrating was Milun, who achieved two A*s and an A and has secured a place at Robinson College, Cambridge to read Geography. Meanwhile, Jake, who achieved four A*s, will be taking up a place at Imperial College London on their highly sought-after Mechanical Engineering course.

One talented John Roan artist – Shristi – will be taking up a place at the University of Edinburgh to study Animation. This comes after winning a national Art Award earlier this summer as part of United Learning’s Best in Everyone Awards for students and staff across its schools. Taking a different but equally impressive route is also Summer, who will now be joining the University of Bristol to study Veterinary Medicine.

The local Mayor also joined students for the celebrations this morning to congratulate them on the brilliant achievements their hard work has led to.

Cath Smith, Principal at The John Roan School, said:

“I am extremely pleased for our Sixth Formers celebrating their results today. Our Sixth Form is a particularly cherished and important part of our school community which has developed significantly in recent years. It’s wonderful to see the students who are graduating from it today celebrating getting into their first-choice universities to join degree courses that will set them up for successful careers.

“It’s always a real pleasure for staff to see students we have taught for many years reach their potential in the Sixth Form and graduate from The John Roan to go to universities and colleges that, when they began here, they would never have imagined they would get into. I would like to congratulate the students and thank all our staff for their combined hard work and commitment.”
