Global Educational Research Conference comes to Bournemouth

Avonwood Primary School hosts teachers, education professionals and policy makers.

An educational conference which has been held across the globe, including in London, Amsterdam, Philadelphia, Cape Town, Dubai, Chile, Melbourne and Toronto, came to Bournemouth this weekend.  On Saturday 20th May, Avonwood Primary School hosted the ResearchED conference giving teachers, researchers and policy makers an opportunity to hear about the latest research from the world of education.

Featuring high-profile academics, this was the first time the ResearchED conference had come to the south coast of England.  With over 20 speakers, ResearchED by the Beach gave participants the chance to learn about the latest developments across a range of educational topics including the role of AI in schools, assessments and curriculum development.

Joining the event from the United States, Robert Pondiscio, Senior Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute gave the opening keynote address. Closing the conference was Mary Myatt who spoke about curriculum development.

Chris Jackson, Headteacher of Avonwood Primary School, said:

“It was fantastic to host the south coast’s first ever ResearchED conference.  The day was packed with inspirational and engaging speakers who gave informative and eye-opening talks on a range of topics.  There were some superb conversations taking place and it was great to hear teachers talk about the practices that they will take back to their school.  It was very heartening to see so many teachers give up their weekend to invest in their professional development and we were proud to host such a brilliant event.”

Sir Jon Coles, Chief Executive of United Learning, of which Avonwood Primary School is a part, said:

“We put evidence-informed practice at the heart of everything we do at United Learning and welcome the chance to collaborate, discuss practice and share evidence.  So we were very pleased to host ResearchEd at Avonwood Primary for these engaging and productive discussions.”
