Sixth former at CAST set to study at University of Cambridge

Catgeories : A Level results

Sixth Formers at Cambridge Academy for Science and Technology (CAST) are celebrating after receiving their A and T Level results today, with one pupil, Calum, securing a place at the University of Cambridge.

Calum, who was awarded four A*s for Physics, Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Chemistry – alongside achieving an A in his EPQ – has earned a place to study Natural Science (Physical) at Gonville and Caius College, University of Cambridge. Earlier this year, Calum was also awarded a prestigious United Learning Best in Everyone Award in Physics, recognising his exceptional prowess in the subject.

Other individual student successes include:

  • Valeriya, who achieved three A*s in Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics and two As in Computer Science and her EPQ, and is going to Imperial College, London to study Biomedical Engineering. Alongside her academic studies, Valeriya took on a host of student leadership commitments as Chair of the Sixth Form Council;
  • Ben, who achieved two A*s in Mathematics and Further Mathematics and two As in Computer Science and Physics, and is planning to take a gap year before studying Civil Engineering at Imperial College London;
  • Gabriella, who achieved an A* in Biology and two As in Chemistry and Mathematics, and is going to University College London to study Chemistry with Management Studies.

Speaking of his success, Calum said:

“I have had so much support from all my teachers at CAST Sixth Form and had some amazing opportunities, including being able to visit CERN and work with their scientists to identify the Higgs Boson.”

Ben added:

“I am so excited about my results and loved how CAST Sixth Form made learning fun.”

Valeriya commented:

“I am really looking forward to going to Imperial – I have wanted to design prosthetics for a long time. The teaching at CAST Sixth Form has been inspirational, and everyone is so friendly.”

Danielle Pacey, Principal at CAST, said:

“Congratulations to all our Sixth Formers on today’s results which are evidence of their enduring hard work over the last two years of their A Level studies. It is brilliant to see our young people securing places at their first-choice universities and being able to proudly take the next steps in their educational journey with great confidence. Thank you in particular to our Sixth Form staff who have been a fantastic support to our young people and have provided them with the knowledge, advice and guidance they have needed to reach their goals.”
