Students at Ernest Bevin Academy in Tooting are celebrating today, after they received another excellent set of GCSEs – including a number who achieved a raft of the top grades.

This year, 80% of students achieved a grade four or above in both English and maths, which represents an eight percentage point increase on last year’s figure. In addition, well over half of the year group (57%) achieved a grade 5 or above in the two subjects.  

Among those students celebrating a raft of the top grades in particular today were:

• Mohammed, who achieved eight grade 9s;
• Ridwan, who achieved six grade 9s and three grade 8s;
• Roshaan, who achieved five grade 9s and four grade 8s;
• Zain, who achieved five grade 9s and one grade 8;
• Haaris, who achieved four grade 9s and one grade 8.

Many other students gained top grades and over half of all grades achieved by Year 11s this year were grade 5 or above. The school also saw particularly strong subject performances across maths, English, the sciences and computer science.

This follows an equally strong set of results last week, which saw many Sixth Formers secure places at their first-choice universities, including top London universities.
