Students secure fantastic GCSE results at The Totteridge Academy

Catgeories : Group news GCSE results

32% of students achieve the highest grades of 7-9 in English and maths

Year 11s set to take up their places at the academy’s Sixth Form in September

Celebrations are underway at The Totteridge Academy as Year 11 students receive their GCSE results today, which have once again seen an excellent set of outcomes across the whole cohort.

An impressive 80% of students achieved a grade 4 or above in both English and maths, whilst nearly three quarters (72%) achieved the higher level pass of a grade 5 or above in the two core subjects.

Once again, the proportion of students achieving the top grades was particularly high, with around a third of students (32%) awarded a grade 7 or above in both English and maths.

Across the year group, this meant there were some particularly impressive individual performances, including:

  • Elijah Tipping, who completed the clean sweep of nine grade 9s;
  • Carter Simpson, Ethan Mak and Kyryl Shishkin, who each achieved eight grade 9s and one grade 8;
  • Abid Miah, who achieved six grade 9s and three grade 8s;
  • Jessie Gallagher, Miah Welton and Archie Taylor, who each achieved six grade 9s and two grade 8s;
  • Anh Nguyen, who achieved five grade 9s and three grade 8s;
  • Safiye Misirlioglu, who achieved four grade 9s, four grade 8s and a grade 7;
  • Jasper Welsh, who achieved four grade 9s, three grade 8s and two grade 7s;
  • Gabriel Town, who achieved four grade 9s, three grade 8s, one grade 7 and one grade 6;
  • Nikita Pluscevskis, who achieved three grade 9s, six grade 8s and one grade 7.

Now that they have their GSCE results under their belts, many of the academy’s Year 11 students will be continuing their studies at the school’s growing Sixth Form in September.

Chris Fairbairn, Principal at The Totteridge Academy, said:

“Our Year 11 students have worked incredibly hard throughout their last five years at TTA and this has paid off with another excellent set of results at GCSE. To see such a high proportion achieving the highest grades in both English and maths is always incredibly gratifying and will stand them in such good stead for their futures. We are thrilled with the progress students have made from their respective starting points across the whole cohort. They should feel very proud of themselves.

“This group of students have been a joy to work with and I know our staff share my pride in what they have achieved this year. We can’t wait to see how they build on these first important results of their secondary school career at Sixth Form and beyond.”
