Top University Places for Huish Episcopi Academy Sixth Formers

Students at the school’s Sixth Form secure Oxford University and Russell Group places, following successful summer of A Level results.

There were celebrations all round at Huish Episcopi Academy in Somerset this morning, as students around the country received their A Level results.

Following a number of standout individual exam performances, many Sixth Formers have been securing places at their universities of choice, including at top UK institutions. Among them was Ruby Parsons, who has secured a place at the University of Oxford to read English Language and Literature.

Other Sixth Formers celebrating included:

  • Erin Sweeting, who will be taking up a place to study Biochemistry at the University of Warwick after achieving an A* and two As in Biology, Chemistry and Spanish;
  • Samuel Rood, who will be going to the University of Bath to study International Management and Modern Languages after achieving an A* and two As in Mathematics, Economics and Spanish;
  • Alexandra Derbridge, who achieved an A* and two As in Art, English and Geography and will now be taking up a place at Falmouth University to study Creative Writing;
  • Kieran Mackay, who achieved an A* and three As in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science. Kieran will now be studying Mathematics at the University of Bath;
  • Matthew Harris, who will be studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Exeter after achieving an three As and an A* in Mathematics, Physics and Geography and an EPQ;
  • Will Penkman, whose three As in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry have secured him a place at the University of Bristol to study Physics with Astrophysics;
  • Anna Meecham, who will be going to the University of Exeter to study Geography, after achieving three As in Mathematics, History and Geography;
  • Chloe Hunt, who achieved A*, A, B, B in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and German;
  • Noelia Mapstone, who achieved three A*s and a B in Mathematics, Physical Education, EPQ and Biology and who will be studying Sport, Health and Exercise Science at the University of Portsmouth;
  • Tom Akers who will be going to the University of Exeter to study Mathematics, after achieving A*, A, B in Mathematics, Physics and Geography.

Reflecting on the day, one student said:

“I am so happy with my results, thank you to all the teachers for their hard work.”

Another added:

“Coming to Huish has been amazing and great experience that I am so grateful for.”

It is particularly gratifying to see so many of them achieving the grades they need to secure places at their universities of choice – including a number of the UK’s top Russell Group institutions.
