Central Academy Students Mark GCSE Success with Top Grades

Students and staff at Central Academy are celebrating today after GCSEs were awarded across the country.

Among those students marking their achievements today, all of whom will be returning to join the school’s Sixth Form in September, include:
  • Cyril, who achieved four grade 9s, three grade 8s, one grade 7 and one grade 6;
  • Charlie, who achieved three grade 9s, three grade 8s, two grade 7s and one grade 6;
  • Poppy, who achieved two grade 9s, five grade 8s, and two grade 7s;
  • Olesia, who achieved two grade 9s, two grade 8s, three grade 7s, one grade 5, as well as a Level 2 Pass and Level 2 Distinction.
Twins Erin and Evie also performed particularly well securing a raft of the top grades of 8 and 9. Erin achieved two grade 9s, five grade 8s, one grade 7 and one grade 6, whilst sister Evie achieved two grade 9s, three grade 8s and four grade 7s.

Poppy said:
“I am absolutely buzzing with my results. I could not be happier. I will be going to Sixth Form at Central Academy and hope to go on to a career in publishing.”

Evie said:
“I am so pleased with my results, particularly in German and English! They will help me progress into Sixth Form here at Central Academy.”

Today’s celebrations follow on from last week A Level results day, which saw many students in the Central Academy Sixth Form secure places at top universities and on sought after-apprenticeship schemes. One student, Josh Docherty, is looking forward to beginning his studies at the University of Cambridge next academic year.

Dan Markham, Principal at Central Academy, said:

“Very well done to all our students who received their GCSE results today. This cohort did not have an easy start to their secondary school experience as a result of the pandemic, however they have shown a great deal of resilience and grit throughout their time at Central and are thoroughly deserving of their achievements.

“Today’s results, and last week’s A Level results, are testament to the progress and improvements we have made as a school over the past few years, as reflected in the recent feedback we received from Ofsted who confirmed Central to be ‘Good’ across all assessment categories. We look forward to welcoming our new and existing students back to school in September where we will continue to build on all that has been achieved to date.”
