Ernest Bevin Academy sixth formers celebrate uplift in top grades at A Level

Catgeories : A Level results

This year across the Sixth Form, around three quarters (74%) of all A Level entries were graded as A* to C – a significant uplift of 27 percentage points from last year.

Ernest Bevin Academy was full of hugs and smiles as Sixth Formers and staff celebrated some fantastic individual successes too, leading to a big increase in the proportion of pupils going onto Russell Group universities in 2026.

One pupil – Bryan – has instead opted to accept the highly competitive Level 6 Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship over the university place he secured.

Among those Year 13s celebrating were:

  • Ahmed, who has secured his spot to study Medicine at Queen Mary University of London after achieving an A* and two As at A Level;
  • Fadumo, who is looking forward to taking up a place to study Biomedical Science at Southampton University;
  • Ace, who will be going to study The Art of Computer Animation at the Escape Studios;
  • Ammar and Mohammad, who are both set to join Queen Mary University of London to study Computer Science;
  • Taha and Zarrar, who will both also be joining Queen Mary University of London but to study Aerospace Engineering;
  • Shay, who will be taking up a place at the University of Manchester to study Psychology.

Ahmed and his mother couldn’t stop smiling as staff congratulated Ahmed on his success:

“I am so grateful to all the staff at Ernest Bevin Academy for supporting me in getting A*, A, A.”

Reflecting on the morning’s celebrations, Damola Ademolake, Principal at Ernest Bevin Academy, said:

“Each of our Sixth Formers have modelled our values of ambition and perseverance and can be proud in the knowledge that their hard work has resulted in some strong results, enabling them to take their next steps successfully. They should also take pride – as we will as staff – in the wider set of skills and attributes they have built as well-rounded young adults.

“As a school, we are proud of the fact that compared to last year, more than a quarter of our students have a stronger chance of going onto their future destinations. Congratulations to everyone celebrating and to our staff, whose part in supporting our Sixth Formers has been so vital."
