Celebrations are underway today at Goresbrook School in Dagenham after achieving an impressive set of A Level results, with over half of students securing places at Russell Group universities.
There has been much for the school and its Sixth Formers to take pride in today, with 62% of entries achieving A*-B grades and 28% achieving the very highest A*/A grades. Across the board, there was a 100% pass rate.
Many students had been eagerly waiting to see the outcomes of their hard work over their time at Sixth Form, and to firm places at their universities of choice. In their next steps, many will be studying an array of courses, including Pharmacy and Accounting.
Amongst those securing their places at top UK universities are:
- Adam Stanbridge, who achieved three A*s and will be going on to Lincoln College, Oxford to read Chemistry;
- Arehone Makhomu, who achieved two A*s and an A and will be heading to the University of Nottingham to study Pharmacy;
- Olajumoke Oladapo, who will be going to the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) to study Accounting and Finance after achieving an A* and two As;
- Joshua Piso, who will be studying Medicine at the University of Leeds after receiving an A* and two As;
One Sixth Former, Arehone, said:
“I am very, very pleased and so glad that all the hard work paid off. I’m looking forward to studying Pharmacy at the University of Nottingham.”
Megan Harris, Principal at Goresbrook School, congratulated students, saying:
“It is fantastic to see our students celebrating their achievements today and that so many of them have gained the grades they need to secure places at their top choice universities. I would like to thank them all for the enthusiasm, hard work and dedication they have brought to their Sixth Form studies which will continue to serve them well as they take their next steps as young adults.
