More sport, less injury: a collaboration between United Learning and Podium Analytics

Catgeories : Group news

On this World Teachers' Day, United Learning and Podium Analytics are announcing a new partnership to streamline the management of sports injuries across the group’s secondary schools.

The collaboration gives secondary schools from across the group full access to and use of the SportSmart app. Designed to help teachers and coaches in logging, tracking, and managing students' injuries, it aims to ensure that the response to any injury is both research-led and consistent across schools and clubs. This will allow students to participate in the sports they enjoy, for longer.

Shaun Dowling, Head of Sport at United Learning, said:

“We are excited to be giving all our secondary schools the opportunity to access the SportSmart app, which is available to them free of charge. The app will allow teachers and key staff in schools to log any injuries which occur during PE or school sport and support those children in returning to physical activity in a safe and timely manner.

“We are also keen to utilise the potential of this app to ensure that parents, schools and community clubs are sharing injury information that can help to further protect children and safeguard their wellbeing.”

Andy Hunt, CEO of Podium Analytics, commented:

“Having schools from United Learning use the SportSmart app is an exciting step forward for us at Podium Analytics.”

Sir Jon Coles, Chief Executive of United Learning, added:

“Schools have a vital role to play in inspiring children and young people to lead healthy lifestyles and in helping them to become physically active. At United Learning we also want to instil in our students a lifelong love of sport. The physical and mental health benefits of regular exercise cannot be underestimated and so, to make sure our young people can continue to make the most of the sports they enjoy, we want to keep them as free of injury as we can.

“This collaboration with Podium Analytics will support us in doing just that. Alongside helping staff to ensure that students aren’t playing sport whilst injured, we hope that it will enable any students who do acquire an injury to get back to full health and fitness as quickly and smoothly as possible.”
