The Elms Academy was full of excitement once again this year for A Level results day, as Sixth Formers secured a range of university offers and looked ahead to their futures.
Among those celebrating was Muntaz, who has secured a place at the University of Cambridge to read Arts, Humanities and Social Science after achieving two As and a B. Likewise, Gabriele’s three A grades have unlocked a place to study Biology at the University of St Andrews.
This continues the trend of ambition The Elms Academy has set for its students around opening doors to the UK’s most prestigious universities. Indeed, across the Sixth Form, half of students who applied to university (49%) have accepted offers at Russell Group universities. This includes:
- José, who is now going to study Physics at King’s College London;
- Sumaya, who achieved an A* and two As and has secured a place at Queen Mary University of London to study Biomedical Science;
- Bradley, who is also going to Queen Mary University of London but to study Accounting and Management, after achieving D*DD;
- Juanna, who is going to Durham University to study Anthropology;
- Petro, who achieved three A*s and an A and is now heading to the University of Southampton to study Aeronautics and Astronautics;
- Akram, who achieved two A*s and two As and will be going to the University of Manchester to study Computer Science;
- Jada, who after achieving D*DD is off to study Business and Management at University of York;
- Faith, who achieved D*D*D and is going to the University of Birmingham to study Nursing;
- Amal, who is now going to the University of Nottingham to study Politics and International Relations after achieving two As and a B;
- Anthony, who achieved D*DD and has secured a place at the University of Nottingham to study Finance and Accounting.
Reflecting on the day’s achievements, Amal said:
"I have got some amazing results, and I really want to thank my teachers. I would not have been able to progress so much without the help of the people who have motivated me and made me feel like I can get here!"
Akram added:
"Thank you to all my teachers – I could not have done it without you. It has all been because of you. I cannot wait to go and study Computer Science at Manchester and finish the work I began during my EPQ!"
Leon Wilson, Executive Principal at The Elms Academy, said:
“These results and achievements reflect the ambition and determination that we see daily from our Sixth Formers, who have been a credit to themselves and their teachers.
“We want each of them to gain what they need to move on with complete confidence, knowing that they can succeed and aspire highly. That so many of them have secured offers to the UK’s top Russell Group universities is fantastic and will open even more doors to them as they begin their adult lives.
“We are also delighted to see such a rich variety of students’ interests reflected in the studies they are looking to pursue at university – from nursing and finance to computer science and aeronautics. We can’t wait to hear back from all our Year 13 leavers about these exciting years ahead.”
