Results Day Success for CAST Sixth Formers

Year 13 student, Jadon Reed, secures place at the University of Cambridge.

Sixth Formers at Cambridge Academy for Science and Technology (CAST) are celebrating today after receiving their A Level and T Level results.
Some of the A Level students marking their achievements today include:
  • Jadon Reed, who achieved three A*s and one B and will be going to the University of Cambridge to study Computer Science;
  • Joe Middleton, who achieved three A*s and two As and will be taking up a degree-level apprenticeship with Airbus;
  • Alex Chernyavskiy, who achieved one A*, two As and one B and will be going to the University of Warwick to study Biomedical Science.
Joe said:
“I am incredibly pleased with my grades and that I will be starting my apprenticeship in two weeks. The skills I have learnt at CAST will really support me in my future career.”
Alex added:
“I am so pleased I came to CAST. It has been fantastic to be at a Sixth Form where the staff are so personable and know me well. I have particularly enjoyed the opportunity to complete a variety of interesting projects that go beyond the A Level specification.”
One remarkable student at the academy, Daniil Markovskyi, also deserves special recognition for the incredible resilience and determination he has shown towards his studies over the past two years. Daniil joined CAST in 2022, having fled Kyiv when the war in Ukraine broke out. Daniil could barely speak English, however in the face of many challenges, he has achieved three B grades in Biology Chemistry and Matha and will be studying Chemical Engineering at Queen Mary University of London.
Daniil said:

“The staff at CAST have supported me well over the last two years. I had never even studied chemistry before and now I am delighted to be looking at a future as a Chemical Engineer.”
Students at the academy studying T Level also have much to celebrate today. Equivalent to three A Levels, T Levels have been co-created with industry to help prepare students for careers in their chosen field. Courses include a mix of subject knowledge and specialist training in the students’ specialism, much of which is achieved through practical scenario-based teaching.
The highlight of the T Level is a three-month work placement, with CAST students using this opportunity to taking up a range of excellent roles including at Cambridge University Hospitals, the Sainsbury Laboratory Cambridge University and the Medical Research Council.
At T Level, all students at CAST received at least a Merit grade (equivalent to three B grades at A Level), whilst a quarter of the cohort received a Distinction (equivalent to three A grades at A Level).
One of the school’s highest achievers was Izzy Collins, who was awarded a Distinction in Healthcare Science, and will be studying Midwifery in September. Many of CAST’s other T Level students are going on to take up top-quality, degree-level apprenticeships and jobs.
Danielle Pacey, Principal at CAST, said:
Many congratulations to all our students who have received their results today. We are so pleased with this strong set of outcomes across both A Level and T Level, which is testament to students’ hard work, determination and resilience. It is through the enduring support of our Sixth Form team that our students are able to excel and can overcome even the hardest of challenges.

“I am proud that we have created a school community in which each and every young person has the confidence and guidance they need to achieve their ambitions in whichever path they choose to take. Well done again all.”
