Students are said to “thrive” and are “proud to attend" the school.

Students and staff at Glenmoor Academy in Bournemouth have more reason to celebrate the new year after receiving another glowing report from Ofsted.

Following a routine, ungraded inspection in December, the inspectors confirmed in their recent report that Glenmoor Academy has taken effective action to maintain the standards identified at the previous inspection during which it was judged ‘Outstanding’.

The inspectors highlighted the “positive and respectful” environment staff have fostered with all students, including those with SEND, able to “thrive”. Students are said to be “proud to attend” and feel a “strong sense of belonging”. Staff likewise feel “privileged to work” at the academy.

On the strength of the school’s academic provision, the inspectors commended the “high-quality” curriculum and “wide breadth of subjects” students study whilst at the school. The inspectors noted the commitment students show towards their learning which, with the support of staff, results in “excellent academic outcomes”.

The inspection team also credited the school’s commitment to students’ personal development, with wide-ranging opportunities for young people to build their character and resilience. This includes through extra-curricular clubs and activities, a residential programme and the chance to be part of a student leadership team. Together with access to a high-quality academic education, this means that students are “extremely well prepared for future pathways”.

Leon Lima, Principal at Glenmoor Academy, said:

Maintaining high standards and ambitions for our students is a top priority here at Glenmoor Academy, so I am very pleased that this has been acknowledged by the inspectors. This fantastic outcome showcases the commitment of all our students and staff to ensuring our school remains such a successful place to teach and learn.

Equally, we are thrilled that the inspectors experienced first-hand our warm and nurturing school environment, and noted the strong sense of belonging felt by our students. I would like to thank everyone across our school community for their ongoing hard work and continuous efforts – they should all feel incredibly proud.

Ben Antell, Director of Secondary Education at United Learning, said:

This is an excellent and highly deserved outcome for the school and a testament to the continuous hard work of students and staff alike. It is particularly gratifying that students are said to feel a strong sense of belonging and are proud to attend Glenmoor Academy.
