Across Year 11, almost three quarters (73%) of students achieved a grade four or above in both English and maths, with 60% achieving grade 5 or above in the two subjects.
Many of the school’s students also achieved a raft of the top grades, including:
- Brian Zhou, who achieved nine grade 9s and one grade 8;
- Aman Walia, who achieved seven grade 9s, one grade 8 and one grade 7;
- Rowan Richardson, who achieved five grade 9s and four grade 8s;
- Deborah Omorodion-Itua, who achieved three grade 9s and five grade 8s;
- Veeksha Chodancar, who achieved three grade 9s and four grade 8s.
These GCSE achievements follow on from last week’s A Level success. As the new academic year approaches, a number of the school’s current Year 11s are now looking forward to joining the academy’s United College Sixth Form to continue their studies.
Commenting on students’ achievements, Karen Wright, Principal at Swindon Academy, said:
“We are thrilled with our GCSE results this year, representing a continued trend of high performance at Swindon Academy. So many of our students will be celebrating today and I hope that they feel proud of their achievements. Throughout their studies, our students have worked incredibly hard and it is brilliant to see their efforts pay off today. As we congratulate them, I would also like to thank our staff who go above and beyond to provide a high-quality education, ensuring that students are well prepared for their futures.
“As September approaches, we look forward to welcoming both new faces and old to our Sixth Form as many students continue their studies with us.”
