The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and in the community.
A culture of sport at the school has thrived in the creation of multiple afterschool and lunchtime extra-curricular clubs. These have proved a great success, with hundreds of students attending clubs for sports such as football, netball, rounders, athletics, hockey and rugby, throughout the year.
Students have been getting the opportunity to take these skills to compete in a wide variety of sporting fixtures and events against local schools, and across the district and county.
In the 2024/25 season, some highlights of the sporting calendar included the first ever victory for the Year 7 and 8 girls’ rugby team, with both the U12 girls’ and the Year 10 boys’ football teams winning their District Final, and students securing a place at the Country Track and Field Championship.
A number of students at the school also utilised their enthusiasm for sport to support with KS2 sporting events in South Northants and Daventry, looking to encourage primary school pupils to participate in sport.
Kim Bradley-Smith, Interim Principal at Campion School, said:
“It has been fantastic to see our sports programme grow over the past year, and the enthusiasm with which students have participated in our clubs and competitions. Receiving this School Games Mark award is fitting recognition for the efforts our school has made to provide opportunities for our young people to stay active, and this is something we are looking to continue in the year ahead.”
