CAST students achieve A Level success

Students at the Cambridge Academy for Science and Technology (CAST), a specialist STEM school, set to attend some of the country’s top Russell Group institutions.

Sixth Formers at Cambridge Academy for Science and Technology (CAST) have secured places at some of the country’s most competitive universities after receiving their A Level results earlier today.

With CAST’s STEM specialism providing greater in-depth opportunities for students to develop their academic abilities, they have secured an impressive array of destinations.

One of the school’s top-performing students, Michael Idiri, achieved an incredible five A*s in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and his Extended Project Qualification. Michael is planning to travel this year before reading Physics at Imperial College London. He also completed his GCSEs at CAST.

Another student at the College, Anna Handford, achieved two A*s in Biology and Environmental Science and one A in Geography. Anna is now set to take a gap year and plans to travel, volunteer in the local community and participate in work experience opportunities. She is aiming this year to apply to the University of Oxford to read Biology.

Commenting on her results, Anna said:

“CAST has been my very best experience of education. Everything has been excellent. I cannot thank the staff enough for all their support.”

Year 13 student Sandra Wyrwicka also performed highly having studied Biology, Psychology and Chemistry at A Level, as well as an Extended Project Qualification and Level 3 Mathematical Studies. Sandra will be going on to read Zoology at the University of Sussex. This follows on from the top GCSE grades Sandra achieved whilst studying at CAST.

Speaking of her achievements, Sandra said:

“I am delighted with my results. I have enjoyed my five years at CAST and am very appreciative of the good teaching I have received.”

As a sign of their prowess, Michael, Anna and Sandra all received in-school Best in Everyone Awards for Excellence earlier this year.

A standout performance was also achieved by Aisha Ibrahim who at 16 has successfully completed her A Levels and secured a place at the University of Reading to read Environmental Management and Sustainability this September.

Danielle Pacey, Principal at CAST, said:

“We are delighted for all our students and they are to be congratulated on their hard work, commitment and resilience. These are the first set of external examinations our Year 13s have sat and they have shown an impressive level of grit and determination to achieve these results. I wish all of them the very best of luck for their futures which I have no doubt will be incredibly bright.”
