As A Levels and their equivalent qualifications are awarded across the country, Sixth Formers at The Elms Academy in Clapham have been taking the opportunity to celebrate some excellent successes.
This summer, Year 13s have been gaining the grades they needed to secure high-quality places at some of the UK’s most competitive and sought-after institutions. This includes two students who are taking up places at the University of Oxford, among a host of students who will be joining Russell Group universities this autumn.
Arian, who achieved straight A*s in Maths, Further Maths and Physics, has gained a place at Jesus College, Oxford to read Physics. Meanwhile, Mariza will be joining Trinity College, Oxford, to read English and French after being awarded an A* in Psychology and EPQ along with As in French and English Literature.
Celebrating alongside them this morning were:
- Abdullahi, who achieved A*s in Maths and Further Maths as well as an A in Physics, will now be taking up a place at Imperial College London to study Computing;
- Thuc Khang, who is heading to King’s College London to study Computer Science after achieving an A* in Maths and As in Further Maths and Physics;
- Ned, who achieved an A* in History and As in English Literature and Religious Education and is taking a gap year to gain work experience before attending university next year;
- Bianca, whose three As in History, Psychology and Sociology mean she will now be going to King’s College London to study Psychology and Criminology;
- Maisie, who also achieved straight As in History, Psychology and Sociology and has secured a place to study Law at the University of Edinburgh;
- Kelly, who achieved an A in Biology, an A in History and a B in Chemistry and has secured a place to study Anthropology and Archaeology at Durham University;
- Mosiah, who achieved As in English and History and a B in Sociology and will be going on to study English at the University of St Andrews;
- Tyler Lawrence, who achieved an A in Economics and Bs in Maths and Physical Education and will now be studying Economics at the University of Southampton.
Likewise, there was huge success for students studying the BTEC National Level 3 Extended Diploma courses which are each equivalent to studying three A Levels.
For the Business qualification:
- Jay achieved the highest possible grade of triple Distinction* and will now be studying Business Management at Queen Mary University of London;
- Josue-Magord achieved Distinction*/Distinction*/Distinction and will also be heading to study Business Management at Queen Mary University of London;
- Jannah, Cheick Fadil Bance, Aaliyah Charles, Abigail Gidey and Eva Innocent all achieved Distinction*/Distinction/Distinction and all have excellent university places secured.
In the Health and Social Care pathway, Vidhi achieved Distinction*/Distinction*/Distinction, whilst Rezwana, Favor and Sara all achieved Distinction*/Distinction/Distinction.
Keen athlete Danta was also happy to have achieved Distinction*/Distinction/Distinction in BTEC Sport and is now planning to study Sports Management at The University of Westminster.
